Show Us Your Youth
Public submissions chronicling youth culture in Britain

With support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, in 2019 we opened up the archive to the general public for the first time, so whether you have one photograph or a personal collection of your own, you can now become part of the Museum of Youth Culture. Under our What Was it Like Growing Up In Britain? campaign, we reached out to the public to get their submissions.

Working together with subcultural communities, we organised Scanning Socials in pubs, cafes and community events across the country, from London to Derby. Enabling the public to get their photographs scanned on the spot, we were able to document their stories and through those help tell the story of youth culture. The public programme was supported by a media campaign, running across print, online and social media.
